A roadside motel turns into a boutique hotel and more stylish than ever!
Design Matters. It matters a great deal when you’re talking about a motel or hotel where the guest experience rules. The latest hospitality trend sweeping the country is the evolution of mom-and-pop motels and hotels into hip, trendy and modern boutique hotels. These roadside motels are catching the eyes of hoteliers and designers who are eager to turn these properties into chic and stylish boutique hotels.
And it pays to design. Following the recent Design In Business report from Accenture Strategy, “’Design-alert’ businesses achieve a 125% return on their design-related investments.”
California design firm Studio Collective incorporated influences from retro Westside surf culture into Santa Barbara‘s Goodland Hotel, a 158-room Kimpton property with an onsite record shop and an Airstream trailer parked in the front. Stop by the restaurant Outpost, which turns out Cali-inspired street food such as pork-belly bao-buns and battered-cod tacos.
